rhett's first trophy

between julie and julia dvd and blogging... i am getting my thoughts focused. meryl streep as usual is brilliant. what with that julia child voice and pulling off a 6'2 frame. and there's nora ephron ("you've got mail") directorial expertise. i enjoy listening to her narration on how the movie was made. and her vocabulary such as bliss, completely divine, charming, etc.

such honesty from nora. like never put a cat in a movie coz it is crazy. she had to have 28 takes to have the cat do finally what it needed to do. or who would want kidney as a meal/dish?

okay focus... i had to pause the dvd...

this award ceremony was especially special since it was rhett's first trophy in his life. it was for his participation in t-ball for the season at the miramar marine base. same base they shot the movie "topgun."

rich was still deployed in somalia so he was not around to witness this "first." plenty of kids and excited parents in the room. organized though and the kids all wore their team uniform.

rhett does not require encouragement for competitiveness. he is a natural competitive person. i try to emphasized the importance of sportsmanship and to enjoy the game. he is plain interested in winning all the time. so what do you do except keep hammering to hey have fun.

so with this ceremony i was a proud parent and was busy taking photographs. i was very happy that he had enjoyed his first lesson in team sports and that summer went well. my little man was just as normal as the other kids. and when we watch the san diego padres game downtown at petco park then he would have an idea of the game.

his trophy at home (along with rich's naval awards) are sitting by the linen area. i have not made a designated display area yet. should i put it in the garage and not make them like such a big deal? as anything in my life, it is a work in progress that gets tackled when the inspiration hits me.

once in a while rhett looks for his trophy. he likes to look at it and twirl the baseball around. as for me, he is my living trophy for a lifetime.
